Adam Labkon Statement: Chicago City Council Committee Meeting

Some of the severe consequences that would result from restricting the company’s operating hours include:

 – Our 130 head-of-household jobs would be eliminated to the detriment of our longtime, loyal employees.

 – City streets and alleys will become severely congested because the flow of such a massive quantity of recyclable material will be disrupted.

 – City sanitation costs and environmental concerns would increase because many independent recyclers would either stop transporting lower-value recyclables or take the material to other recyclers who do not have enclosed shredders or air filtration systems.

 – It will jeopardize our ability to remain in business and complete our transition with our strategic partner. There is no viable alternative to the necessary, efficient services that we provide to the city of Chicago.

All we are asking for is to be treated fairly.
