  General Iron employs approximately 130 workers, mostly minorities, whose average income is $80,000 annually. Almost half of our workforce has been with the company for over 10 years.

• 1st in Chicago

  General Iron invests in industry-leading best practices, including a high-efficiency filter, and is preparing to spend $2 million to install a regenerative thermal oxidizer (RTO). General Iron will be the only metal shredding facility in Chicago and one of the first in the country to utilize this technology.
